Javier Hernandez will be out of action for the next month after sustaining an injury during Manchester United’s 1 – 0 win over Aston Villa earlier this month.
The Mexican was among three players forced to leave the pitch during the game, with two players from the Villa squad also geting injured.
It is thought that the forward has damaged ligaments in his ankle and has to wear an ankle support for a while, after getting his foot caught in the pitch at Villa Park early on in the match.
Hernandez’s injury leaves the United team severely exhausted. With Hernandez joining other forwards Michael Owen and Dimitar Berbatov in being off the pitch, the team looks short up front and midfielders Anderson and Tom Cleverley are also still unable to play.
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson told the BBC: “We’re having a bad time with injuries at the moment – it’s just as well we’ve a strong squad.”
